Product Overview
Clone EE-12 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 2 (gene LRP2) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 522.0 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 280 kDa.
LRP2, also known as megalin, is a very large multiligand endocytic receptor of the LDL receptor family found on absorptive epithelia, most prominently the kidney proximal tubule. Often working with cubilin, it reclaims filtered proteins, vitamin carriers such as the vitamin D-binding protein complex and many drugs, and it is also important in forebrain development and leptin transport.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 2 in the apical cell membrane, endosome lumen, membrane and cell projection. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in first and third trimester cytotrophoblasts in the placenta (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
