Product Overview

Clone AGB-12 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes leucine-rich repeat serine/threonine-protein kinase 2 (gene LRRK2) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 286.1 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 280 kDa.

LRRK2 is a large multidomain protein that combines a GTPase domain with a serine/threonine kinase domain. It phosphorylates a subset of Rab GTPases such as RAB8A and RAB10, shaping vesicle trafficking, lysosome function, autophagy and ciliogenesis; activating mutations in LRRK2 are a common genetic cause of Parkinson's disease, making it a major target in neurodegeneration research.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places leucine-rich repeat serine/threonine-protein kinase 2 in the cytoplasmic vesicle, perikaryon, Golgi apparatus membrane and cell projection. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in pyramidal neurons in all cortical laminae of the visual cortex, in neurons of the substantia nigra pars compacta and caudate putamen (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
