Key elements and design rationale

  • Target: NR1H2 (vascular endothelial growth factor B); UniProt: P55055
  • Antibody format: Rabbit, Polyclonal, Rabbit IgG
  • Molecular weight: 50 kDa
  • Applications: WB, IHC, IF, ICC, Flow Cytometry, ELISA

Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-LXR beta/NER/NR1H2 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A04523-2.

Biological background

Biological context: Growth factor for endothelial cells. VEGF-B167 binds heparin and neuropilin-1 whereas the binding to neuropilin-1 of VEGF-B186 is regulated by proteolysis.

Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Secreted. Secreted but remains associated to cells or to the extracellular matrix unless released by heparin., tissue context: Expressed in all tissues except liver. Highest levels found in heart, skeletal muscle and pancreas..

Common research applications

  • Western blotting (WB): Compare NR1H2 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of NR1H2 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
  • Immunofluorescence / ICC: Assess subcellular localization patterns and co-localization with compartment markers in cultured cells.
  • Flow cytometry: Quantify NR1H2-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
  • ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
  • Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.

Additional product notes (from provided fields)

  • Background: Liver X receptor beta (LXR-β) is a member of the nuclear receptor family of transcription factors. LXR-β is encoded by the NR1H2 gene (nuclear receptor subfamily 1, group H, member 2). The liver X receptors, LXRA (NR1H3; MIM 602423) and LXRB, form a subfamily of the nuclear receptor superfamily and are key regulators of macrophage function, controlling transcriptional programs involved in lipid homeostasis and inflammation. The inducible LXRA is highly expressed in liver, adrenal gland, intestine, adipose tissue, macrophages, lung, and kidney, whereas LXRB is ubiquitously expressed. Ligand-activated LXRs form obligate heterodimers with retinoid X receptors (RXRs; see MIM 180245) and regulate expression of target genes containing LXR response elements (summary by Korf et al., 2009 [PubMed 19436111]).
  • Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cellular localization: Secreted. Secreted but remains associated to cells or to the extracellular matrix unless released by heparin.
  • Tissue details: Expressed in all tissues except liver. Highest levels found in heart, skeletal muscle and pancreas.
  • Research category: Angiogenesis,Cancer,Cardiovascular,Growth Factors,Growth Factors/Hormones,Invasion/Microenvironment,Neurogenesis,Neurology Process,Neuroscience,Signal Transduction
