Overview

This antibody is intended for detection of XCL1 (Lymphotactin) in biological samples using common immunoassay formats. It is typically selected based on target identity, species reactivity, clonality/clone information, and detection modality.

Vendor notes: Boster Bio Anti-Lymphotactin/XCL1 Antibody Picoband® catalog # PB9681. Tested in ELISA, WB applications. This antibody reacts with Human. The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.

Key elements and design rationale

  • Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
  • Immunogen / epitope context: E.coli-derived human Lymphotactin recombinant protein (Position: V22-G114). Human Lymphotactin shares 60.2% and 57% amino acid (aa) sequence identity with mouse and rat Lymphotactin, respectively. (reported region: V22-G114).
  • Molecular weight context: reported MW: 13 kDa; calculated MW: 12517 MW
  • Reactivity: Human
  • Applications: ELISA, WB

As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.

Biological background

Lymphotactin; Lymphotactin. Chemokine (C motif) ligand (XCL1) is a small cytokine belonging to the XC chemokine family that is also known as lymphotactin. Muller et al. (1995) mapped the gene to chromosome 1q23 by FISH. The sequence of the deduced 114-amino acid protein is most homologous to the CC chemokines CCL8 and CCL3. It is found in high levels in spleen, thymus, intestine and peripheral blood leukocytes, and at lower levels in lung, prostate gland and ovary. XCL1 induces the migration of cells expressing XCR1. Functional note: Chemotactic activity for lymphocytes but not for monocytes or neutrophils. Reported localization: Secreted. Expression/tissue context: Highest level in spleen, lower in peripheral leukocytes and very low levels in lung, colon and small intestine.

Research relevance and current trends

  • Chemokines: Researchers commonly examine how XCL1 (Lymphotactin) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Immunology: Researchers commonly examine how XCL1 (Lymphotactin) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Innate Immunity: Researchers commonly examine how XCL1 (Lymphotactin) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.

Common research applications

  • Western blotting: compare relative XCL1 (Lymphotactin) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
  • ELISA-compatible use: when applicable, interpret signal as relative abundance across sample sets with consistent handling and dilution strategy.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins
  • Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
  • Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
