Product Overview
Clone 21L68 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes acyl-protein thioesterase 1 (gene LYPLA1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 24.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 25 kDa.
Acyl-protein thioesterase 1 (LYPLA1, APT1) is a cytosolic enzyme that removes palmitate and other fatty acids from S-acylated cysteines of proteins such as Ras and Gα subunits. This depalmitoylation lets proteins cycle on and off membranes, so LYPLA1 is studied in protein lipidation, Ras signaling and membrane trafficking; it also has lysophospholipase activity.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places acyl-protein thioesterase 1 in the cytoplasm, cell membrane, nuclear membrane and endoplasmic reticulum. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Platelets. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls. Because the antibody is phospho-specific, signal depends on the phosphorylation state of the sample; a phosphatase-treated lysate is a useful negative control.
