Product Overview
Clone 20K38 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes lysine--tRNA ligase (gene KARS1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 68.0 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 73 kDa.
Lysyl-tRNA synthetase (KARS1, LysRS) attaches lysine to its tRNA in an ATP-dependent two-step reaction, a key step in protein synthesis. Beyond translation, it can produce the signaling molecule Ap4A, which releases the transcription factor MITF from its inhibitor HINT1, and the secreted enzyme can stimulate macrophages. It is also packaged into HIV-1 particles, where it helps deliver the tRNALys primer for reverse transcription.
