Product Overview
Clone 22M96 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes myelin-associated glycoprotein (gene MAG) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, immunoprecipitation and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 69.1 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 100 kDa.
Myelin-associated glycoprotein (MAG, Siglec-4) is a sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectin found on the inner membrane of myelin sheaths. It binds neuronal gangliosides and Nogo receptors to maintain axon–myelin contact and long-term axon integrity, and it is well known as an inhibitor of axon regeneration after central nervous system injury.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places myelin-associated glycoprotein in the cell membrane and membrane raft. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Both isoform 1 and isoform 2 are detected in myelinated structures in the central and peripheral nervous system, in periaxonal myelin and at Schmidt-Lanterman incisures. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
