Product Overview
Clone 23M90 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes melanoma-associated antigen 1 (gene MAGEA1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 34.3 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 46 kDa.
MAGEA1 is the founding member of the MAGE family of cancer-testis antigens, normally expressed in testicular germ cells but reactivated in many tumors, including melanoma. It was the first human tumor antigen shown to be recognized by cytotoxic T cells and has been reported to repress transcription through HDAC1 recruitment, so it is studied in tumor immunology.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places melanoma-associated antigen 1 in the cytoplasm and nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in many tumors of several types, such as melanoma, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, lung carcinoma and breast carcinoma, but not in normal tissues except for testes. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
