Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets methionine--tRNA ligase, cytoplasmic (gene MARS1) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 101.1 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 101 kDa.
MARS1 is the cytoplasmic methionyl-tRNA synthetase, which attaches methionine to its tRNA, including the initiator tRNA that starts protein synthesis. It is part of the multi-tRNA synthetase complex in the cytosol. Because it is essential for translation, it is studied in protein synthesis, cell growth and inherited disorders affecting the lung and nervous system.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HeLa cells, human HepG2 cells, human A549 cells, human K562 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 8% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human prostate cancer tissue, human thyroid cancer tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): U2OS cells.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): human prostate cancer tissue.
Samples with a confirmed result (IP): A549 cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): K562 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human MARS1 fragment (Arg25–Glu887), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places methionine--tRNA ligase, cytoplasmic in the cytoplasm and nucleus. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
