Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets mitochondrial antiviral-signaling protein (gene Mavs) in mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 53.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 57 kDa.
MAVS is an adaptor protein on the outer mitochondrial membrane that relays signals from the cytosolic RNA sensors RIG-I and MDA5. When these sensors detect viral RNA, MAVS forms large aggregates that activate TBK1 and IKK, leading to IRF3 and NF-κB activation and type I interferon production. It is a central readout in antiviral innate immunity research.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Mouse, Rat) |
|---|---|
| Flow cytometry (fixed cells) | 1–3 µg/1×106 cells (Mouse) |
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat brain tissue, rat heart tissue, rat L6 cells, mouse brain tissue, mouse HEPA1–6 cells, mouse C2C12 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): ANA-1 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant mouse Mavs fragment (Met1–Gln77), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with mouse and rat. UniProt places mitochondrial antiviral-signaling protein in the mitochondrion outer membrane, mitochondrion and peroxisome. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
