Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes mannose-binding protein C (gene Mbl2) in mouse and rat samples and is validated for ELISA, IHC and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 26.0 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 26 kDa.
Mannose-binding lectin (MBL, encoded by MBL2) is a liver-derived serum lectin that recognizes sugar patterns on bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites. Bound to its associated MASP proteases, it triggers the lectin pathway of complement and promotes opsonization. Common genetic variants cause low serum MBL, and it is studied in innate immunity and susceptibility to infection.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
|---|---|
| IHC (paraffin sections) | 0.5–1 µg/mL |
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat liver tissue, mouse liver tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 12% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): mouse liver tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in citrate buffer (pH 6).
Immunogen
Recombinant rat MBL2 fragment (Glu19–Asp244), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with mouse and rat. UniProt describes mannose-binding protein C as secreted and also located in the cell surface. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
