Product Overview
Clone 23M85 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes muscleblind-like protein 1 (gene MBNL1) in human and mouse samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 41.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 40 kDa.
MBNL1 (muscleblind-like 1) is an RNA-binding protein that controls alternative splicing, mRNA localization and stability. It promotes adult splicing patterns in muscle, heart and brain. In myotonic dystrophy, expanded CUG or CCUG repeat RNAs sequester MBNL1, causing reversion to fetal splicing, which makes it a key protein in myotonic dystrophy research.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human and mouse. UniProt places muscleblind-like protein 1 in the nucleus, cytoplasm and cytoplasmic granule. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Highly expressed in cardiac, skeletal muscle and during myoblast differentiation. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
