Product Overview
Clone 27M51 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes melanocortin receptor 5 (gene MC5R) in human samples and is validated for Western blot and IHC. The predicted molecular weight is 36.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 45 kDa.
The melanocortin 5 receptor (MC5R) is a G protein-coupled receptor for α-MSH and related melanocortin peptides. It is expressed in many peripheral tissues, particularly exocrine glands, and in rodents it is required for normal sebaceous and other exocrine gland secretion. It is studied in exocrine function, lipid production and immune modulation.

|---|---|
| Immunohistochemistry | 1:50–1:200 |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): HeLa cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human MC5 Receptor.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places melanocortin receptor 5 in the cell membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in the brain but not in the melanoma cells. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
