Product Overview
Clone 22K69 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes kinesin-like protein KIF2C in human samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 81.3 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 81 kDa.
MCAK (KIF2C) is a kinesin-13 microtubule depolymerase that removes tubulin from microtubule ends. It is concentrated at centromeres and kinetochores, where it corrects improper microtubule attachments and helps ensure accurate chromosome segregation during mitosis. MCAK is studied in mitotic fidelity and is often overexpressed in tumors.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human MCF-7 cells, human K562 cells, human U2OS cells, human HEL cells, human A431 cells, human Jurkat cells, human PC-3 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:1000 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:500, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human MCAK.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places kinesin-like protein KIF2C in the cytoplasm, nucleus and chromosome. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed at high levels in thymus and testis, at low levels in small intestine, the mucosal lining of colon, and placenta, and at very low levels in spleen and ovary. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
