Product Overview
Clone 28M44 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes myocyte-specific enhancer factor 2A (gene MEF2A) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot and ICC/IF. The predicted molecular weight is 54.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 55 kDa.
MEF2A is a member of the myocyte enhancer factor 2 family of MADS-box transcription factors. It binds A/T-rich MEF2 sites in the control regions of many muscle-specific and growth factor-responsive genes and cooperates with myogenic factors during muscle differentiation. MEF2A activity is regulated by MAP kinases and class II HDACs, and it is studied in muscle, heart and neuronal biology.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places myocyte-specific enhancer factor 2A in the nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Isoform MEF2 and isoform MEFA are expressed only in skeletal and cardiac muscle and in the brain. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
