Product Overview
Clone 27M16 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes microsomal glutathione S-transferase 1 (gene MGST1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 17.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 18 kDa.
Microsomal glutathione S-transferase 1 (MGST1) is a membrane-bound enzyme found mainly in the endoplasmic reticulum and outer mitochondrial membrane. It joins reduced glutathione to a wide range of hydrophobic electrophiles and also has peroxidase activity toward lipid hydroperoxides, so it is studied in detoxification and protection against oxidative stress.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human RT4 cells, human A549 cells, rat liver tissue, mouse liver tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 12% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1: 500 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human MGST1.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places microsomal glutathione S-transferase 1 in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane and mitochondrion outer membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Highly expressed in liver. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
