Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes myocardin-related transcription factor A (gene MRTFA) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 98.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 145 kDa.
MRTF-A (MRTFA, also called MKL1 or MAL) is a transcriptional coactivator of serum response factor (SRF). It binds monomeric G-actin, which keeps it inactive, so Rho-driven actin polymerization releases MRTF-A to enter the nucleus and switch on cytoskeletal genes, linking actin dynamics to gene expression in cell migration and fibrosis.

| Immunocytochemistry / Immunofluorescence | 5 µg/mL (Human) |
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human HeLa cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): SiHa cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human Mkl1/MRTFA fragment (Leu192–Leu931), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places myocardin-related transcription factor A in the cytoplasm and nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Ubiquitously expressed, has been detected in lung, placenta, small intestine, liver, kidney, spleen, thymus, colon, muscle, heart and brain. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
