Product Overview
Clone 30D03 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes sphingolipid delta(4)-desaturase DES1 (gene DEGS1) in human samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 37.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 34 kDa.
DEGS1 (dihydroceramide desaturase 1) inserts a double bond into the sphingoid backbone of dihydroceramide to make ceramide, the final step of de novo ceramide synthesis. This step controls the balance between dihydroceramides and ceramides, lipids with different signaling properties. DEGS1 is studied in sphingolipid metabolism, metabolic disease and myelin biology.
