Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects matrix metalloproteinase-28 (gene MMP28) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 58.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 48 kDa.
Epilysin (MMP-28) is a secreted matrix metalloproteinase expressed in skin and several other tissues. It can degrade casein in vitro and is thought to take part in tissue homeostasis and repair, but its natural substrates are not well defined.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human placenta tissue, human A549 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): A431 cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): A549 cells.

Recombinant human MMP28 fragment (Phe123–Leu505), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed at high levels in testes and lung. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
