Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects cytochrome c oxidase subunit 2 (gene MT-CO2) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 25.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 21 kDa.
Cytochrome c oxidase subunit 2 (MT-CO2, COX2) is a mitochondrial DNA-encoded core subunit of complex IV of the respiratory chain. It contains the copper A center that accepts electrons from cytochrome c and passes them to subunit 1, where oxygen is reduced to water.
| Target | Cytochrome c oxidase subunit 2 (gene MT-CO2; UniProt P00403, human) |

Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human colorectal cancer tissue, human glioma tissue, mouse brain tissue, rat brain tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): U87 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human MT-CO2 fragment (Met1–Ser205), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places cytochrome c oxidase subunit 2 in the mitochondrion inner membrane. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
