Product Overview
Clone 28M98 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes S-methyl-5'-thioadenosine phosphorylase (gene MTAP) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 31.2 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 31 kDa.
MTAP (methylthioadenosine phosphorylase) breaks down 5′-methylthioadenosine, a by-product of polyamine synthesis, into adenine and methylthioribose-1-phosphate. This reaction opens the methionine salvage pathway and recycles adenine. MTAP is frequently lost together with the neighboring CDKN2A locus in tumors, so it is studied in cancer metabolism and synthetic-lethality research.
