Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-MTUS1 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A04047-1.

Biological background

Biological context: Cooperates with AGTR2 to inhibit ERK2 activation and cell proliferation. May be required for AGTR2 cell surface expression. Together with PTPN6, induces UBE2V2 expression upon angiotensin-II stimulation. Isoform 1 inhibits breast cancer cell proliferation, delays the progression of mitosis by prolonging metaphase and reduces tumor growth.

Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Mitochondrion. Golgi apparatus. Cell membrane. Nucleus., tissue context: Ubiquitously expressed (at protein level). Highly expressed in brain. Down-regulated in ovarian carcinoma, pancreas carcinoma, colon carcinoma and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Isoform 1 is the major isoform in most peripheral tissues. Isoform 2 is abundant in most peripheral tissues. Isoform 3 is the major isoform in brain, female reproductive tissues, thyroid and heart. Within brain it is highly expressed in corpus callosum and pons. Isoform 6 is brain-specific, it is the major isoform in cerebellum and fetal brain..

Common research applications

  • Western blotting (WB): Compare MTUS1 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of MTUS1 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
  • Immunofluorescence / ICC: Assess subcellular localization patterns and co-localization with compartment markers in cultured cells.
  • Flow cytometry: Quantify MTUS1-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
  • ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
  • Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.

Additional product notes (from provided fields)

  • Specificity: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
  • Background: Mitochondrial tumor suppressor 1 (MTSG1) or Microtubule-Associated Scaffold Protein 1 (MTUS1) is a candidate tumor suppressor protein encoded by the MTUS1 gene in humans. It is mapped to 8p22. This gene encodes a protein which contains a C-terminal domain able to interact with the angiotension II (AT2) receptor and a large coiled-coil region allowing dimerization. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. One of the transcript variants has been shown to encode a mitochondrial protein that acts as a tumor suppressor and partcipates in AT2 signaling pathways. Other variants may encode nuclear or transmembrane proteins but it has not been determined whether they also participate in AT2 signaling pathways.
  • Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cellular localization: Mitochondrion. Golgi apparatus. Cell membrane. Nucleus.
  • Tissue details: Ubiquitously expressed (at protein level). Highly expressed in brain. Down-regulated in ovarian carcinoma, pancreas carcinoma, colon carcinoma and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Isoform 1 is the major isoform in most peripheral tissues. I see that the anti-MTUS1 antibody A04047-1 works with IF, what is the protocol used to produce the result images on the product page?
You can find protocols for IF on the "support/technical resources" section of our navigation menu. If you have any further questions, please send an email to support@bosterbio.com
My question regarding product A04047-1, anti-MTUS1 antibody. I was wondering if it would be possible to conjugate this antibody with biotin. I would need it to be without BSA or sodium azide. I am planning on using a buffer exchange of sodium azide with PBS only. Would there be problems for me to conjugate the antibody and store it in -20 degrees in small aliquots?
It is not recommended storing this antibody with PBS buffer only in -20 degrees. If you want to store it in -20 degrees it is best to add some cryoprotectant like glycerol. If you want carrier free A04047-1 anti-MTUS1 antibody, we can provide it to you in a special formula with trehalose and/or glycerol. These molecules will not interfere with conjugation chemistry and provide a good level of protection for the antibody from degradation. Please be sure to specify this in your purchase order.
