Product Overview
Clone FHA-13 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes mucin-1 (gene MUC1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, immunoprecipitation and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 122.1 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 17–30 kDa.
Mucin-1 (MUC1) is a heavily glycosylated transmembrane mucin on the apical surface of most epithelia, forming part of the protective barrier. Its cytoplasmic tail engages signaling pathways including ERK, SRC and NF-κB and can influence p53-regulated transcription. MUC1 is often overexpressed and aberrantly glycosylated in carcinomas, so it is widely studied in cancer biology.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human MCF-7 cells, human HeLa cells, rat lung tissue, rat stomach tissue, mouse lung tissue, mouse stomach tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 10% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1: 1000 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human breast cnacer tissue, human ovarian cnacer tissue, mouse lung tissue, rat lung tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Conditions in the example images (IHC): heat-mediated antigen retrieval in EDTA buffer (pH 8.0).
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human MUC1.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places mucin-1 in the apical cell membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed on the apical surface of epithelial cells, especially of airway passages, breast and uterus. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
