Product Overview
Clone 17M89 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes mucin-4 (gene MUC4) in human samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 231.5 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 120 kDa.
Mucin-4 (MUC4) is a large membrane-bound mucin of epithelial surfaces. Besides its barrier and anti-adhesive functions, it can bind and modulate the receptor tyrosine kinase ERBB2 (HER2), influencing epithelial proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. MUC4 is aberrantly expressed in several carcinomas, notably pancreatic cancer, and is studied in tumor biology.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places mucin-4 in the [Mucin-4 beta chain]: Cell membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in the thymus, thyroid, lung, trachea, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, testis, prostate, ovary, uterus, placenta, and mammary and salivary glands. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
