Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets mucin-7 (gene MUC7) in human samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 39.2 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 46 kDa.
Mucin-7 (MUC7) is a small secreted salivary mucin produced mainly by submandibular and sublingual glands. It binds bacteria and helps clear them from the oral cavity, and it contributes to the lubricating properties of saliva. It is studied in oral biology and host defense.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human SW620 cells, human HepG2 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt describes mucin-7 as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in salivary gland tissues and only in those that contain mucous acinar cells (e.g. sublingual and submandibular glands) and not in salivary glands containing only serous acinar cells (e.g. parotid gland). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
