Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects mevalonate kinase (gene MVK) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF, immunoprecipitation, flow cytometry and ELISA.
Mevalonate kinase (MVK) phosphorylates mevalonate to mevalonate 5-phosphate, an early step of the mevalonate pathway leading to cholesterol and non-sterol isoprenoids. MVK deficiency causes mevalonic aciduria and hyperimmunoglobulinemia D syndrome, so the enzyme is studied in isoprenoid metabolism and autoinflammation.

Recombinant human MVK fragment (Lys13–Asp394), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 80.8% and 81.4%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places mevalonate kinase in the cytoplasm and peroxisome.
