Product Overview

Clone 18M12 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes major vault protein (gene MVP) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot and IHC. The predicted molecular weight is 99.3 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 99 kDa.

Major vault protein (MVP) is the main structural component of vaults, very large barrel-shaped ribonucleoprotein particles in the cytoplasm. Many MVP copies assemble into the vault shell, which also contains PARP4, TEP1 and small vault RNAs. Vaults have been linked to transport and signaling, including dampening of interferon-γ/STAT1 signaling, and to drug resistance.

Validated Applications

Western blot 1:500–1:2000
Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): A549 cells.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places major vault protein in the cytoplasm and nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Present in most normal tissues. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 1:500–1:2000; Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200. Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 99.3 kDa; observed band at about 99 kDa.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human MVP.
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.Long term: −20 °C for up to 12 months. Frequent use: 4 °C for up to 1 month. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
