Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes neurocan core protein (gene NCAN) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 143.1 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 142 kDa.
Neurocan (NCAN) is a chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan of the lectican family, expressed mainly in the developing brain. It binds hyaluronic acid and neural cell adhesion molecules and helps form the brain extracellular matrix, influencing neuronal adhesion, neurite outgrowth and perineuronal nets.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): rat brain tissue, mouse brain tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

Recombinant human Neurocan/NCAN fragment (His1140–Ala1179), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt describes neurocan core protein as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Detected in cerebrospinal fluid (at protein level). The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
