Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects beta-nerve growth factor (gene NGF) in human samples and is validated for Western blot and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 27.0 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 27 kDa.
Nerve growth factor (NGF) is the founding member of the neurotrophin family. Acting through its high-affinity receptor TrkA (NTRK1) and p75NTR (NGFR), it supports survival and growth of sympathetic and sensory neurons, while its precursor proNGF can signal cell death through p75NTR and sortilin family co-receptors; NGF is also a major mediator of pain.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human U-87MG cells, human PC-3 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

Recombinant human NGF fragment (Ser122–Asp186), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt describes beta-nerve growth factor as secreted and also located in the endosome lumen. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
