Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects homeobox protein Nkx-2.5 (gene NKX2-5) in human and mouse samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 34.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 35 kDa.
NKX2-5 is an NK2 homeobox transcription factor and one of the earliest regulators of heart development. Together with GATA4 it activates cardiac genes such as NPPA, and it is also required for spleen formation. Mutations in NKX2-5 are a well-known cause of congenital heart defects, making it a key subject of cardiogenesis research.
