Overview
Anti-Orai2 Antibody Picoband® is an antibody for ORAI2 detection raised in Rabbit (Polyclonal, Rabbit IgG), with reported reactivity: Human. Commonly used in WB, IHC, Flow Cytometry, ELISA workflows.
Key elements and design rationale
- Target: ORAI2 (BAG family molecular chaperone regulator 5); UniProt: Q96SN7
- Antibody format: Rabbit, Polyclonal, Rabbit IgG
- Molecular weight: 39 kDa, calculated 51200 MW
- Applications: WB, IHC, Flow Cytometry, ELISA
Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-Orai2 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A07411-1.
Biological background
Biological context: Inhibits both auto-ubiquitination of PARK2 and ubiquitination of target proteins by PARK2 (By similarity). May function as a nucleotide exchange factor for HSP/HSP70, promoting ADP release, and activating Hsp70-mediated refolding. .
Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Perinuclear region., tissue context: Expressed in all tissues examined with lower levels in brain and testis..
Common research applications
- Western blotting (WB): Compare ORAI2 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of ORAI2 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
- Flow cytometry: Quantify ORAI2-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
- ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
- Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.
Additional product notes (from provided fields)
- Background: Protein orai-2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ORAI2 gene. Orai2 transcripts are predominantly expressed in kidney, lung, and spleen, and it appears that Orai2 is the only Orai isoform with multiple transcripts. Co-expresssion of Orai2 and STIM1 was shown to produce currents that appear similar but smaller than those produced by co-expression of Orai1 and STIM1.
- Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
- Cellular localization: Perinuclear region.
- Tissue details: Expressed in all tissues examined with lower levels in brain and testis.
- Research category: Interleukins
