Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes succinyl-CoA:3-ketoacid coenzyme A transferase 1, mitochondrial (gene OXCT1) in human, monkey, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF, flow cytometry and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 56.2 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 56 kDa.
SCOT (OXCT1) is the mitochondrial enzyme that starts ketone body use outside the liver. It moves coenzyme A from succinyl-CoA onto acetoacetate, forming acetoacetyl-CoA that is then split into acetyl-CoA for the citric acid cycle; it is studied in energy metabolism during fasting and in ketone use by heart, brain and tumors.

Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): A431 cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): U87 cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human OXCT1/SCOT fragment (Ser35–Ala309), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, monkey, mouse and rat. UniProt places succinyl-CoA:3-ketoacid coenzyme A transferase 1, mitochondrial in the mitochondrion. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Abundant in heart, followed in order by brain, kidney, skeletal muscle, and lung, whereas in liver it is undetectable. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
