Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets ribosomal protein S6 kinase beta-1 (gene RPS6KB1) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, flow cytometry and ELISA.
S6K1 (RPS6KB1, p70S6K) is a serine/threonine kinase activated by mTORC1 in response to growth factors and nutrients. It phosphorylates RPS6, eIF4B and other regulators to promote protein synthesis and cell growth, and it also provides negative feedback to insulin signaling via IRS1; phospho-S6K1 at Thr389 is a standard mTORC1 readout.

Recombinant human p70 S6K/RPS6KB1 fragment (Arg7–Gln500), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 99.4% and 99.6%, respectively.

The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places ribosomal protein S6 kinase beta-1 in the synapse, mitochondrion outer membrane and mitochondrion. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Widely expressed.
