Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4 gamma 2 (gene EIF4G2) in human, monkey, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF, flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 102.4 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 97 kDa.
EIF4G2 (also called DAP5 or p97) is an eIF4G-related protein that lacks the eIF4E-binding region. It supports cap-independent translation of certain mRNAs, for example during mitosis, apoptosis and stress, and it is studied in alternative translation initiation.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human MCF-7 cells, human HeLa cells, monkey COS-7 cells, rat skeletal muscle tissue, U87 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with a confirmed result (IP): HeLa cells.
Samples with a confirmed signal (flow cytometry): THP-1 cells.

Recombinant human P97/DAP5/EIF4G2 fragment (Glu91–Glu790), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, monkey, mouse and rat. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Ubiquitously expressed in all adult tissues examined, with high levels in skeletal muscle and heart. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
