Product Overview

Clone BDA-16 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes paired box protein Pax-2 (gene PAX2) in human and mouse samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 44.7 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 45 kDa.

PAX2 is a paired-box transcription factor essential for the developing kidney and urogenital tract, eye and midbrain–hindbrain region. It is a common marker of renal epithelium, and PAX2 mutations cause renal coloboma syndrome.

Validated Applications

Western blot 1:500–1:2000
Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200
Flow cytometry 1:20

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human fetal kidney.

Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.

Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human colon tissue.

Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human pax2.

Reactivity Notes

The supplier lists reactivity with human and mouse. UniProt places paired box protein Pax-2 in the nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in primitive cells of the kidney, ureter, eye, ear and central nervous system. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.

Safety

Handling: the formulation contains sodium azide as a preservative. Wear gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and dispose of waste according to local regulations. For research use only; not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
Q.Which applications is this antibody validated for, and at what dilution?
A.Validated applications with suggested starting dilutions: Western blot 1:500–1:2000; Immunohistochemistry 1:50–1:200; Flow cytometry 1:20. Optimal dilutions should be determined by each laboratory.
Q.Which species does this antibody react with?
A.Validated reactivity: Human, Mouse. Other species are not listed by the supplier.
Q.Has this antibody been tested on goat samples?
A.Reactivity with goat samples has not been tested by the supplier. Aligning the immunogen sequence with the goat ortholog (e.g., by BLAST) helps estimate the chance of cross-reactivity.
Q.What band size should be expected in Western blot?
A.Reported by the supplier: calculated molecular weight 44.7 kDa; observed band at about 45 kDa.
Q.What immunogen was used to raise this antibody?
A.Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human pax2.
Q.How should this antibody be stored?
A.Long term: −20 °C for up to 12 months. Frequent use: 4 °C for up to 1 month. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
