Overview

This antibody is intended for detection of PAX5 (Thrombospondin-1) in biological samples using common immunoassay formats. It is typically selected based on target identity, species reactivity, clonality/clone information, and detection modality.

Vendor notes: Boster Bio Anti-PAX5 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A00669-1. Tested in ELISA, IF, IHC, ICC, WB applications. This antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat. The brand Picoband indicates this is a premium antibody that guarantees superior quality, high affinity, and strong signals with minimal background in Western blot applications. Only our best-performing antibodies are designated as Picoband, ensuring unmatched performance.

Key elements and design rationale

  • Antibody format: Rabbit Polyclonal Rabbit IgG
  • Immunogen / epitope context: E. coli-derived human PAX5 recombinant protein (Position: R217-A282). (reported region: R217-A282).
  • Molecular weight context: reported MW: 45 kDa; calculated MW: 129383 MW
  • Reactivity: Human,Mouse,Rat
  • Applications: ELISA, IF, IHC, ICC, WB

As a polyclonal antibody, the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes on the target, which can improve detection robustness but may increase sensitivity to sample-dependent epitope changes.

Biological background

Thrombospondin-1; paired box 5. Paired box protein Pax-5 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the PAX5 gene. The PAX5 gene is a member of the paired box (PAX) family of transcription factors. The central feature of this gene family is a novel, highly conserved DNA-binding domain, known as the paired box. The PAX proteins are important regulators in early development, and alterations in the expression of their genes are thought to contribute to neoplastic transformation. The PAX5 gene encodes the B-cell lineage specific activator protein (BSAP) that is expressed at early, but not late stages of B-cell differentiation. Its expression has also been detected in developing CNS and testis, therefore, PAX5 gene product may not only play an important role in B-cell differentiation, but also in neural development and spermatogenesis. Functional note: May play an important role in B-cell differentiation as well as neural development and spermatogenesis. Involved in the regulation of the CD19 gene, a B-lymphoid-specific target gene. Reported localization: Nucleus. Expression/tissue context: Expressed in natural killer (NK) cells, CD8 (+) alpha-beta and gamma-delta T-cells. Expressed on essentially all CD56+CD3- NK cells from freshly isolated PBMC. Expressed in interferon-producing killer dendritic cells (IKDCs).

Research relevance and current trends

  • Developmental Families: Researchers commonly examine how PAX5 (Thrombospondin-1) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Domain Families: Researchers commonly examine how PAX5 (Thrombospondin-1) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.
  • Epigenetics and Nuclear Signaling: Researchers commonly examine how PAX5 (Thrombospondin-1) relates to this theme using model systems and orthogonal readouts.

Common research applications

  • Western blotting: compare relative PAX5 (Thrombospondin-1) levels across conditions; band patterns may reflect isoforms and processing.
  • IHC/IHC-F: assess spatial distribution of PAX5 (Thrombospondin-1) across tissue regions and cell types using matched controls.
  • IF/ICC: evaluate subcellular localization and co-localization patterns; signal can depend on fixation/permeabilization and epitope accessibility.
  • ELISA-compatible use: when applicable, interpret signal as relative abundance across sample sets with consistent handling and dilution strategy.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Specificity notes: No cross reactivity with other proteins.
  • Cross-reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins.
  • Isoforms and PTMs: Apparent size and signal patterns can differ across splice isoforms, proteolytic processing, and post-translational modifications.
  • Controls: Include an isotype control (as relevant), no-primary control for imaging, and orthogonal validation such as KD/KO samples when available.
