Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes paired box protein Pax-8 (gene PAX8) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF and ELISA. The predicted molecular weight is 48.2 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 48 kDa.
PAX8 is a paired-box transcription factor required for thyroid development and for expression of thyroid genes such as thyroglobulin and thyroid peroxidase. It is also expressed in kidney and Müllerian tissues and is a common marker in thyroid, renal and ovarian studies.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.25–0.5 µg/mL (Human, Mouse, Rat) |
|---|---|
| Immunocytochemistry / Immunofluorescence | 5 µg/mL (Human) |
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human SW579 cells, human SK-OV-3 cells, rat kidney tissue, rat NRK cells, mouse NIH/3T3 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.
Samples with confirmed staining (ICC/IF): HeLa cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant human PAX8 fragment (Gln137–Leu450), expressed in E. coli. Sequence identity with the mouse and rat orthologs: 95.3% and 95%, respectively.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places paired box protein Pax-8 in the nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in the excretory system, thyroid gland and Wilms tumors. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
