Product Overview
Clone 23P14 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes period circadian protein homolog 2 (gene PER2) in human samples and is validated for Western blot, ICC/IF and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 136.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 137 kDa.
PER2 (Period 2) is a core repressor of the circadian clock that forms complexes with cryptochromes and casein kinase 1 to inhibit CLOCK-BMAL1 transcription. Its timed phosphorylation and degradation help set the length of the daily cycle, and a PER2 mutation causes familial advanced sleep phase syndrome, so it is a central protein in circadian research.
