Product Overview
Clone ABIF-16 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes periostin (gene POSTN) in human samples and is validated for Western blot and flow cytometry. The predicted molecular weight is 93.3 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 90 kDa.
Periostin (POSTN) is a secreted matricellular protein of the fasciclin family, found in the periosteum, periodontal ligament and other collagen-rich tissues. It binds integrins and matrix proteins to support cell adhesion and collagen crosslinking. Periostin is studied in bone and tooth biology, tissue repair, fibrosis, allergic inflammation and tumor stroma.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human 293T cells, human MCF-7 cells, human A431 cells, human U251 cells, rat liver tissue, rat heart tissue, mouse liver tissue, mouse heart tissue.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 10% SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 30 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 1:500 overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:5000, ECL detection.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt describes periostin as secreted and also located in the Golgi apparatus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Widely expressed with highest levels in aorta, stomach, lower gastrointestinal tract, placenta, uterus, thyroid tissue and breast. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
