Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody recognizes placenta growth factor (gene PGF) in human and mouse samples and is validated for ELISA and Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 24.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 25 kDa.
Placental growth factor (PlGF, PGF) is a VEGF family member that binds VEGFR-1 (FLT1), and some isoforms also bind neuropilins. It supports angiogenesis and endothelial growth, particularly in pathological conditions, and is highly expressed in the placenta; circulating PlGF, often measured with sFlt-1, is widely studied in pregnancy research, including preeclampsia.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
|---|---|
| ELISA | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL |
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): human T-47D cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Recombinant human PGF fragment (Glu37–Asp60), expressed in E. coli.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human and mouse. UniProt describes placenta growth factor as a secreted protein. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): While the three isoforms are present in most placental tissues, PlGF-2 is specific to early (8 week) placenta and only PlGF-1 is found in the colon and mammary carcinomas. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
