Product Overview
Clone AOCE-21 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase isozyme L1 (gene UCHL1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 24.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 24 kDa.
UCH-L1 (PGP9.5) is a deubiquitinating enzyme that is highly abundant in neurons. It cleaves ubiquitin from small adducts to maintain a pool of free monoubiquitin and also removes ubiquitin from several proteins, including EGFR and HIF-1α. UCH-L1 is widely used as a neuronal marker and is studied in synaptic function, neurodegeneration and brain injury.

Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Found in neuronal cell bodies and processes throughout the neocortex (at protein level).
