Product Overview
Clone 32C69 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes catenin beta-1 (gene CTNNB1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 85.5 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 92 kDa.
β-Catenin (CTNNB1) has two roles: it is a structural part of cadherin-based adherens junctions and the central effector of canonical Wnt signaling. Without Wnt, a destruction complex of APC, AXIN, CK1α and GSK3B targets it for proteasomal degradation; with Wnt, it builds up in the nucleus and activates TCF/LEF target genes. It is studied in development, stem cells and cancer.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places catenin beta-1 in the cytoplasm, nucleus, cell junction and cell membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in several hair follicle cell types: basal and peripheral matrix cells, and cells of the outer and inner root sheaths. Because the antibody is phospho-specific, signal depends on the phosphorylation state of the sample; a phosphatase-treated lysate is a useful negative control.
