Product Overview
Clone BFO-5 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes epidermal growth factor receptor (gene EGFR) phosphorylated at Tyr1092 in human and mouse samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC and ICC/IF. The predicted molecular weight is 134.3 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 170 kDa.
Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR, also called ErbB1 or HER1) is a receptor tyrosine kinase activated by EGF, TGF-α and related ligands. Ligand binding triggers receptor dimerization and activation of RAS/MAPK, PI3K/AKT and other pathways that drive proliferation and survival, and EGFR is a major target in cancer research.

Samples with a confirmed band (WB): A431 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Samples with confirmed staining (IHC): human breast cancer tissue.
Recommended antigen retrieval: heat-mediated, in TE buffer (pH 9.0); citrate buffer (pH 6.0) can be used instead.
Immunogen
Synthetic phosphopeptide around Tyr1092 of human EGFR.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human and mouse. UniProt places epidermal growth factor receptor in the cell membrane, endoplasmic reticulum membrane, Golgi apparatus membrane and nuclear membrane. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Ubiquitously expressed. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls. Because the antibody is phospho-specific, signal depends on the phosphorylation state of the sample; a phosphatase-treated lysate is a useful negative control.
