Product Overview
Clone ABH-5 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes eIF-2-alpha kinase GCN2 (gene EIF2AK4) phosphorylated at Thr899 in human samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 186.9 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 220 kDa.
GCN2 (EIF2AK4) is a kinase that senses amino acid shortage through binding of uncharged tRNAs. It phosphorylates eIF2α to slow overall protein synthesis and activate ATF4, and it is studied in nutrient sensing and the integrated stress response.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places eIF-2-alpha kinase GCN2 in the cytoplasm. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Widely expressed. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls. Because the antibody is phospho-specific, signal depends on the phosphorylation state of the sample; a phosphatase-treated lysate is a useful negative control.
