Product Overview
Clone IBC-8 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes heat shock protein beta-1 (gene HSPB1) phosphorylated at Ser78 in human samples and is validated for Western blot, IHC, ICC/IF and immunoprecipitation. The predicted molecular weight is 22.8 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 27 kDa.
HSP27 (HSPB1) is a small heat shock protein that forms large oligomers and binds unfolding proteins to prevent their aggregation. Its phosphorylation by p38 MAPK-activated kinases regulates its assembly and roles in actin organization and resistance to apoptosis, and it is a common marker of cellular stress. HSPB1 mutations cause inherited peripheral neuropathy.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places heat shock protein beta-1 in the cytoplasm and nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Detected in all tissues tested: skeletal muscle, heart, aorta, large intestine, small intestine, stomach, esophagus, bladder, adrenal gland, thyroid, pancreas, testis, adipose tissue, kidney, liver, spleen, cerebral cortex, blood serum and cerebrospinal fluid. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls. Because the antibody is phospho-specific, signal depends on the phosphorylation state of the sample; a phosphatase-treated lysate is a useful negative control.
