Product Overview
Clone 31M76 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes mitogen-activated protein kinase 14 (gene MAPK14) phosphorylated at Thr180 in human samples and is validated for Western blot and IHC. The predicted molecular weight is 41.3 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 41 kDa.
p38α (MAPK14) is the best-studied p38 MAP kinase and is expressed in most cells. Activated by MKK3 and MKK6 in response to inflammatory cytokines, LPS and cellular stress, it phosphorylates kinases such as MK2 and many transcription factors to control cytokine production, differentiation and cell death, making it a common target in inflammation research.

Immunogen
Synthetic phosphopeptide around Thr180 of human p38.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human. UniProt places mitogen-activated protein kinase 14 in the cytoplasm and nucleus. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Brain, heart, placenta, pancreas and skeletal muscle. Because the antibody is phospho-specific, signal depends on the phosphorylation state of the sample; a phosphatase-treated lysate is a useful negative control.
