Product Overview
Clone HEG-16 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes paxillin (gene PXN) phosphorylated at Tyr118 in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 64.5 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 68 kDa.
Paxillin (PXN) is a focal adhesion adaptor protein that links integrin-based adhesions to the actin cytoskeleton. It is phosphorylated by FAK and Src and serves as a docking site for many signaling and structural proteins, so it is widely used as a marker in studies of cell adhesion and migration.

Immunogen
Synthetic peptide based on the sequence of human paxillin.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places paxillin in the cytoplasm and cell junction. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls. Because the antibody is phospho-specific, signal depends on the phosphorylation state of the sample; a phosphatase-treated lysate is a useful negative control.
