Product Overview
Clone 31R44 is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that recognizes retinoblastoma-associated protein (gene RB1) phosphorylated at Ser780 in human and mouse samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 106.2 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 106 kDa.
The retinoblastoma protein (pRb, RB1) is a classic tumor suppressor that controls entry into S phase. In its underphosphorylated form it binds E2F transcription factors and recruits chromatin-modifying enzymes to silence cell cycle genes; phosphorylation by cyclin–CDK complexes releases E2F and allows DNA replication to begin. Loss of RB1 causes retinoblastoma, and pRb status is a standard readout in cell cycle and cancer research.

Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human and mouse. UniProt places retinoblastoma-associated protein in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Expressed in the retina. Because the antibody is phospho-specific, signal depends on the phosphorylation state of the sample; a phosphatase-treated lysate is a useful negative control.
