Vendor description (summary): Boster Bio Anti-PI 3 Kinase p85 alpha/PIK3R1 Antibody Picoband® catalog # A00318-1.
Biological background
Biological context: Delivers copper to copper zinc superoxide dismutase (SOD1).
Expression and localization notes: cellular localization: Cytoplasm ., tissue context: Ubiquitous..
Common research applications
- Western blotting (WB): Compare PIK3R1 levels across samples and conditions using appropriate loading and biological controls.
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC): Evaluate spatial distribution of PIK3R1 in tissue sections, considering fixation and antigen retrieval effects.
- Immunofluorescence / ICC: Assess subcellular localization patterns and co-localization with compartment markers in cultured cells.
- Flow cytometry: Quantify PIK3R1-positive populations in single-cell suspensions with appropriate gating and controls.
- ELISA: Use antibody-based detection formats to assess antigen presence or binding in plate-based assays.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Account for isoforms, post-translational modifications, and sample-specific processing that can shift apparent molecular weight or epitope accessibility.
- Use positive/negative biological controls where possible (e.g., known-expressing cells/tissues, knockdown/knockout models) and include appropriate secondary-only/isotype controls for imaging workflows.
Additional product notes (from provided fields)
- Background: Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase regulatory subunit alpha is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the PIK3R1 gene. Its gene is mapped to 5q13. the bovine PI3K p85 subunit consists of 2 closely related proteins, p85-alpha and p85-beta. They cloned cDNAs encoding both p85 subunits, each of which is a 724-amino acid polypeptide. Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase plays an important role in the metabolic actions of insulin, and a mutation in this gene has been associated with insulin resistance.
- Cross reactivity: No cross-reactivity with other proteins
- Cellular localization: Cytoplasm .
- Tissue details: Ubiquitous.
- Research category: Cancer,Cardiovascular,Metabolism,Neuroscience,Neurotransmission,Plasma Membrane,Potassium Channels,Receptors / Channels,Signal Transduction
