Product Overview
This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase regulatory subunit alpha (gene PIK3R1) in human, mouse and rat samples and is validated for Western blot. The predicted molecular weight is 83.6 kDa, and the supplier reports an observed band at about 85 kDa.
PIK3R1 encodes p85α and its shorter forms, the main regulatory subunits of class IA PI3K. They stabilize and hold the p110 catalytic subunit in check, and their SH2 domains bind phosphotyrosine on activated receptors to bring PI3K to the membrane, so PIK3R1 is central to insulin signaling, growth factor responses and cancer research.

Validated Applications
| Western blot | 0.1–0.5 µg/mL (Human, Rat, Mouse) |
|---|
Samples with a confirmed band (WB): MCF-7 cells, HeLa cells, COLO-320 cells, SW620 cells, rat brain tissue, rat lung tissue, rat PC-12 cells, mouse brain tissue, mouse HEPA1–6 cells, mouse RAW2467 cells.
Recommended loading (WB): 20–40 µg of total protein per lane.
Conditions in the example images (WB): 5–20% gradient SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, 50 µg lysate per lane, transfer to nitrocellulose membrane, blocking in 5% non-fat milk, primary antibody at 0.5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C, HRP-conjugated secondary antibody at 1:10000, ECL detection.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide from the N-terminal region of human PI 3 Kinase p85 alpha. The peptide sequence is conserved in rat and mouse.
Reactivity Notes
The supplier lists reactivity with human, mouse and rat. UniProt places phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase regulatory subunit alpha in the cytoplasm. Tissue expression noted by UniProt (human): Isoform 2 is expressed in skeletal muscle and brain, and at lower levels in kidney and cardiac muscle. The samples tested by the supplier (listed above) are a practical starting point for positive controls.
